Looking at the Positive Things

By K-DAWG

July 30 -- Why even bother. What else is there to say about the New York Knicks. After the latest move by GM Scott Layden, it seems like the Knicks may have lost some fans. Trading the fan favorite Sprewell! C'mon we want to see Anderson, Eisley, and Spoon go. Right? Damn straight it's right, but remember this, what has happened has happened. It's all in the past. Now we must focus on the future of the New York Knick franchise, even if it does include Keith Van Horn. Instead of looking at all of the negative things let's focus on the positive things, yes I know it may be difficult, but bear with me.

1. Keith Van Horn.

Maybe we are all wrong. Just because he may not seem like the perfect fit in New York, doesn't necessarily mean he won't do good. Most likely Van Horn will post around 15 points per game. The most positive thing I can see us getting out of this trade is the fact that van horn is 5 years younger than Spree.

Van Horn will replace Sprewell easily on the offensive end, but the biggest problem will be on the defensive end. Houston now becomes the better defender of the SG and SF positions. The worst thing you want to do is get your best player fatigued. But there will be no choice because Van Horn will not be able to contain the likes of a Tracy McGrady or a Kobe Bryant. Not that many can but it places Houston in a more difficult situation. New jersey got through and so did Philly. Hopefully it wont be as bad as it sounds.

2. Maciej Lampe.

The guy recently was placed on the ALL REVUE TEAM averaging 17.2 PPG along with 7 boards per contest. The next Dirk. I don't know about you but this guy may be our savior. I never thought we would have luck drafting a euro after the Fredrick Weis thing. Anyway, this guy is our future. Nothing more can be said about this guy. I just remember jumping up and down after hearing his named being called on draft night. Relief? Yes ... well until Layden traded Spree.
Lets stick with the subject. Face the facts; we will not have a taste of post-season basketball in New York unless Dice comes back. Or will we? All I know is that this guy Lampe is something special. Lets just pray I'm right.

3. Travis Knight and Charlie Ward.

Both of their contracts come off the books next year. I know its not going to get us under the cap, but at least I wont be pissed at seeing Knight getting paid 3 mil a year or whatever for sitting on the bench. Or maybe, just maybe Layden will re-sign them both for 5 year/ 100 million dollar contracts each. Hey you never know.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

Lee Nailon - are the knicks going to re-sign him? I'd take him over Anderson.

Lavor - I don't know why I like this guy so much. I'd like to see him back in a knicks uniform again, but it's unlikey.

Franky Frank - Williams was looking good in the summer league. May compete for a staring job.

Jersey - Should I buy a Spree's  T'Wolves jersey?

All right, that's all Knick Fans! If you have any questions or comments,
