What makes Houston a great player?

What makes Houston a great player?
Plays hard every night: Each and every night, regardless of who the Knicks are playing, Houston goes out and gives his all.  It doesn't matter if shots are falling, he tries to do what he can on the court

Has improved greatly each year on the offensive end: Houston's scoring average has gone up in recent years. His career high is now 53, and he scored 50 or more twice this season. Additionally, he is taking the ball to the hoop and to both sides of the court.  His ability to mix up his shots makes him tough to guard.

Has improved his defensive skills: Houston has taken a new role on the defensive end this season. No longer is he the weak link to the Knick's D. Houston has sured up his man to man D as well as his team D. This has helped the Knicks as a team this season.

Has become a leader: Houston has taken a leadership role on the court. Off the court, he has made an effort to talk with the media and comment on the status of the Knicks. He seems to say the right things all the time.

Has hit clutch shots and carried the team throughout tough stretchs: One knock against Houston was the fact that he dissapeared down the stretch. I think it is fair to say that is no longer a problem. Houston has come alive in the late moments of several games this season.

Doesn't bring baggage: Many great players come with an attitude or need to touch the ball on every possession. This is not the case with Houston. He does what he needs to do, but doesn't complain about touches. While this may not seem important, it helps the chemistry in the locker room and on the court.

Is a great person: Houston contributes to several charities and looks to help out underprivalged children all the time. He started several charity organizations of his own in recent years.

Coach's son: It is undeniable that a coach's son has an above average knowledge of the game. Houston receives constant feedback from his dad, Wade Houston. I am sure this criticism has helped Houston develop into the player he is today.
